When solar adoption in the Philippines accelerated in the mid-2010s, competition in the EPC sector was partly driven by price. Panel costs were falling sharply, allowing early movers to offer savings that were difficult to challenge, even when engineering approaches varied widely. That phase has passed. Panel prices have now stabilized at levels that narrow the cost gap between properly engineered systems and installations that rely on shortcuts. The difference in upfront cost between a correctly specified design and a value-engineered compromise may appear small, but the difference in performance over fifteen years can be significant.
